Memoria is a work that explores the feeling of being in-between cultures and how this often amplifies the sense of a lost identity within the framework of Swedishness. Cuesta Peña aims to create a connection between the artwork and the viewer – an invitation to reflect on one’s place in the world, personal history, and the experiences of loss we carry with us.
The sculpture functions as a portal for contemplation, where each individual can see themselves reflected. Through Memoria, we can meet as human beings – regardless of origin or background – in a shared space where personal and collective experiences converge within the artistic object.
